Afternoon. Well, being a farm lad in Golden Bay possibly makes me one of the most dumbest diamond ring buyers in the world... My partner and I had been talking about marriage, etc for some time and had stopped and looked at a few jewellery shops while on holiday or in Nelson while shopping, and as with any woman, there was no one set piece of jewellery to choose. We had been told about Polished Diamonds from friends in Christchurch who had a really good experience. Dan provided some ideas from a few instructions from Kate, then I left it long enough for Kate to forget before contacting Dan again. I chose the ring style closest to what Kate had seen elsewhere to her fancy. Nervous as hell I asked Dan to go ahead with the job. I mean I didn’t even know ring sizes went from A thru to Z alphabetically, I thought Kate’s size M was for Medium!! Dan was great thou, explained everything, from sizing, choice in metal, the way the rings are constructed or any other curve ball question I could throw at him. Dan was patient as I tried to find a way of hiding a reasonable size purchase without Kate seeing it. The end job is magnificent, Kate absolutely loves the ring! The GIA certificate, invoice, two copies of the valuation, (and what value the purchase is when you compare!) this making insuring the ring so simple, plus a bit of sensible business promotion, referral vouchers for friends which we have already passed on happily to others, and of course, the perfectly presented diamond ring in it’s own presentation box. Like most people I was apprehensive about giving thousands of dollars to someone I had never met. Our jeweller quoted us a few diamonds and I thought I would do my own research to see if I could find comparable diamonds and price. While looking for a diamond we were quoted a lesser colour and clarity diamond for over 800 dollars more than the diamond Polished Diamonds supplied. Not to mention the excellent grades for cut and polish which are hard to come by.
As far as web sites go I was confident when Dan contacted me within ten minutes of submitting a query about several diamonds. I was able to discuss what I was looking for and diamond characteristics.
Dan also followed our discussion with an email of 6-8 diamonds meeting my requirements along with GIA reports. In my opinion if it doesn't come with GIA grading don't but it. Countless retail stores will claim a diamonds colour and clarity but wont or can't provide a GIA report. Using Dan's experience I picked out a true sparkler- both on paper but more importantly in real life. I received the diamond by registered courier and believe me it is fantastic in the light!! Ness is going to be over the moon. Her friends are going to be jealous.

On the delivery day which was a Saturday, there was a bit of hiccup the courier guy couldn't find my apartment. My ring was taken back to the depot and depot was meant to close at 12. I rang Dan and he went out of his way to actually talk to the lady at the courier depot to make her stay for extra half hour. I got at the depot at 12:20 and got my ring!!!!!
